How would you mount a mirror onto a hollow door?
I have the standard indoor hollow door , I need to know how to anchor the brackets to it so that i can mount a head to toe mirror on it
You should use anchors called mollies. Get them with the screws that fit them--1 inch should be sufficient. Mark the lower area that you want the mirror to fit in. You will also need mirror clips. These are clear plastic with a small indentation and an outer lip. You will use the screws that come with the mollies. Line up the indentation of the clip with the line you drew for the bottom of the mirror. Mark the holes for the two clips.
Match your drill bit to the size of the molly and drill holes. Tap in the mollies and screw the clips to the door but not tightly.
You can slide the mirror into the bottom clips and then mark the top clip holes, put the mirror aside, drill the holes, put the mollies in and put the clips on with the screws partially tightened. Put the mirror in the bottom two clips, turn the top to clips to the side, press the mirror against the door, turn the top two clips to the side and finish tightening the screws. Do the same for the bottom.
Note: If your mirror has a frame on it, there are metal clips That Can tolerate thicker edges--use the method as above.
